Six jars across our three tagine sauces: Ras el Hanout (1/3 · Mild, Moroccan style), Xawaash (Hawaji) (2/3 · Medium, Somali style) and Berbere (3/3 · Hot, Ethiopian style).
Each sauce is led by its spice blend: Ras el Hanout with carrots, aubergine, sultanas and fresh herbs; a roasted Xawaash (Hawaji) blend that is sweet, tangy and sour, and was our most popular sauce at the BBC Good Food Show; and authentic Berbere for real heat. Every one is a family recipe that works with meat, fish or vegetables, and each jar serves three.
Saida's Kitchen began when Saida's daughter developed food allergies and Saida couldn't find a sauce she trusted on the supermarket shelf. So she went back to her kitchen and made her own. Read Saida's story

Our story
It started with her daughter.
When Saida's daughter developed multiple food allergies, every label became a question. Saida searched the supermarket shelves for a sauce she could trust and couldn't find one. The bold African flavours she grew up with weren't there either.
So she went back to her kitchen. Saida grew up between East Africa and Italy, in a mixed-race family where food became the language that brought everyone together, and learned to cook beside her grandmother. She started making sauces from those family recipes, first for her own table, then for every family that wanted a better choice of sauces.
Every sauce is made as nature intended, with no added sugar, preservatives, additives, artificial colours, flavourings, milk, nuts, gluten or E numbers. The only sugars are the ones that occur naturally.
These flavours were too special to keep in the family. They were made to be shared.
